THE WITCHER Cast Praise Liam Hemsworth’s Relentless Energy as Geralt: “He Turned Up Fully Formed”
Fans may still be wrapping their heads around seeing a new face under Geralt’s iconic white hair, but the cast of The Witcher couldn’t be more confident in Liam Hemsworth’s take on the monster-hunting legend.
The Witcher Season 4 hit Netflix on October 30, Hemsworth’s co-stars teased what to expect from his version of the White Wolf.
Laurence Fishburne, who joins the series as Regis, had high praise for Hemsworth’s transformation into the role once carried by Henry Cavill. “Liam has done a magnificent job embodying Geralt of Rivia,” Fishburne told GamesRadar+.
“He's brought a depth to it; he's brought his humor, his humanity, and his intelligence to it. I think people are gonna fall in love with him.”
That admiration was echoed by Joey Batey, returning as Jaskier. Given how central the Geralt–Jaskier dynamic is to the heart of the show, Batey’s take carries some weight.
“He certainly brought an energy. The man is relentless. He was training and preparing and researching and everything. And he turned up fully formed. He really did just know his stuff,” Batey shared.
“He also had a strength in him. He was able to challenge some of the writing – respectfully – collaborate with everyone in order to find his feet.”
Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, also praised Hemsworth’s dedication and presence on set, saying, “He brought his full self. It's a super big thing to do, and he was so open and vulnerable with us. That's just everything you can ask for, really.”
When Henry Cavill announced his exit from the series in 2022, many fans wondered if anyone could possibly fill those boots. But since stepping into the role, Hemsworth has seemed to earn the confidence of the cast and crew.
A producer previously said he looked “awesome” in costume, and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich recently revealed she knew she made the right choice the moment she saw Hemsworth embody Geralt on set.
We’ll just have to wait and see if audiences will end up buying him in the role. If his castmates’ enthusiasm is any indication, fans might just find themselves falling for this new White Wolf sooner than expected.
