THE WITCHER Looking to Cast an A-List Star to Play Regis in Season 4
The Witcher is going to take a big blow without Henry Cavill when it returns for Season 4. Liam Hemsworth is replacing Cavill in the role of Geralt, and now producers of the series are reportedly looking to hire a major A-list star to take on the role of the fan-favorite character Regis.
Redanian Intelligence is reporting that Netflix is looking to hire a "major and very capable Hollywood star in his late 50s or 60s" to play Regis in the series. He’s a popular character from the books, and it’s looking like the fourth season will be inspired by the novel Baptism of Fire, which is the story where Regis is introduced.
I imagine Netflix is looking to get a big star in the role now that they’ve lost their big star in the series. Maybe they think casting someone with that kind of star power will get people to tune in and watch the show without Cavill.
For those of you not familiar, Regis was a very powerful higher vampire, who was more than four hundred years old when he first met Geralt of Rivia. He was the barber-surgeon of Dillingen and surprisingly intellectual.
It’s exciting that they are introducing this character in the series, I just wish that it would have happened with Cavill. We’ll get one more season with Cavill, though, and fans are pretty excited about that.
In The Witcher Season 3, “as monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.”
The series also stars Jodhi May as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read as Sabrina, Emma Appleton as Renfri, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson as Istredd, Maciej Musiał as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara), and Anna Shaffer as Triss. Newcomers include Robbie Amell (Upload), Meng’er Zhang (Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings) as Milva, Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia Here We Go Again!) as Prince Radovid, and Christelle Elwin (Half Badas) Mistle.
The season will be released in two volumes, with Volume 1 dropping on June 29th, and Volume 2 arriving on July 27th. The Witcher Season 5 was also already announced.
