THE WITCHER Season 5 Is Moving Forward at Netflix

It looks like Netflix is committed to moving forward with The Witcher series even though they don’t know if people are going to show up to watch Season 4, which will see Liam Hemsworth replace Henry Cavill. Fans are still pretty sour over Cavill not being involved with the series after Season 3, but it seems like the streaming service is confident that fans will continue to show up to watch it without him.

During a recent interview with Deadline, casting director Sophie Holland revealed that after shooting Season 4, they will move right into production on Season 5. She said:

"We're just about to start filming on season four with Liam Hemsworth and there will be a short gap then we go straight into season five.”

I’m curious to see how the future of The Witcher plays out after Cavill is gone. Will fans continue to watch? With the viewing numbers stay strong enough to make the big budget for the fantasy epic worth it? Regardless, Netflix is confident enough two at least go for two more seasons.

When asked Holland was asked if she was surprised to hear about Cavill’s departure, she said: "I probably won't comment on that one. I'd love to, but I won't. I really look forward to seeing what Liam brings. He has a big fan base. Season four will be a nice mix of new characters and returning faces.”

During a previous interview, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich explained why they decided to continue the series without Cavill:

"It was time for him in his life to move on. I think we’ve all been mourning this in our own way. I mean, we had the choice to have Geralt exit and to end the show. [But] that’s not something that we were willing to do. There’s just too many stories left to tell. If we replaced Geralt with another Witcher, we would be going fully away from the books, and I don’t think that’s what anyone wanted either."

She went on to talk about Liam Hemsworth:

"We’re all excited about Liam coming in. He’s got enormous shoes to fill, but also has a lot of energy and a lot of excitement for it. It’s obviously a brand-new chapter for us. And there’s a lot of feelings involved. But at the end of the day, we love what we’re doing. So we’re gonna keep going."

Will you show up to watch The Witcher without Cavill on board? Are you willing to give Hemsworth a chance to show what he will bring to Geralt?
