THE WITCHER Season 3 Will Give Henry Cavill "The Most Heroic Sendoff"
The Witcher fans have been pretty bummed out about Henry Cavill leaving the series and being replaced by Liam Hemsworth for Season 4. The creative team has been trying to keep fans hyped for the future, but from my point of view, their attempts to make the future of the series sound exciting don’t seem to be working.
The last time we’ll see Cavill in the role of the monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia, will be in the upcoming third season and series creator and showrunner Lauren Hissrich says that it feels like "the most heroic sendoff" for Henry Cavill. During a recent interview with EW she said:
"Henry has given so much to the show and so we want to honor that appropriately. What is so interesting is that season 3, to me, is the closest thing that we've done as a one-to-one adaptation of the books. Obviously, we can't do every page, but Time of Contempt gave us so many big action events, plot points, defining character moments, huge reveals of a big bad. There's so much to do that we were able to stick really, really closely with the books."
This comment comes after reports that Cavill left the series after the frustrations with his vision for the story clashing with the showrunner’s vision. Cavill was always fighting for the series to stick more closely to the source material because he was such a big fan of the story that the books told. Well, it sounds like he may have gotten what he wanted with Season 3, we’ll just have to wait to see.
When asked if there's a role, either on screen or behind the scenes, that could keep Cavill in the Witcher-verse moving forward, Hissrich responded saying, "We haven't even thought about that at this point." She went on to say:
"We have plans to keep this going in various permutations. I love the mothership, I'm going to stick to it, but obviously we have Blood Origin coming out. I hope that this doesn't end for a while. So I think the possibilities are endless, and we'll see what happens."
After watching Season 3 of The Witcher will you be back for Season 4 with Hemsworth replacing Cavill? Will you give it a chance? Will you watch out of curiosity?
