THE WITCHER Showrunner Tries to Hype Liam Hemsworth's Geralt, Saying He'll "Bring New Energy" to the Show
After it was announced that Liam Hemsworth was going to replace Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich attempted to hype the new casting and get fans excited about the change that’s coming. I’m surprised that Netflix is taking the gamble to continue the series without Cavill because he was the heart of the show.
During a recent interview with GamesRadar, the showrunner was asked about the recasting, and she said: "I'm so excited for viewers. I think that it's just a new chapter for us. And I think new chapters bring new energy and that people will find things to love. So yeah, personally, I'm really excited."
She’s either in denial that losing Cavill was the worst thing that could happen to the series, or she knows deep down that it’s not going to work, and she just has to put on that positive face. From everything that I’ve seen, a lot of fans are not going to tune in to watch Season 4 without Cavill, and if they don’t, the series is going to die.
Joey Batey, who plays Jaskier in The Witcher: Blood Origin and the main Witcher series, talked about the recasting and said: "I'm obviously gonna miss Henry a huge amount. Henry and I are very, very good pals and he has been the stalwart of the show, the gravity of the show, and the driving force of the show for four years now.
"But Liam, I've already spoken to him a little bit. He is throwing himself into the deep end of this mythos and this canon with such power and grace and aplomb that I'm really excited to work with him and to see the kind of interpretation that he's going to bring together. I think it's exciting."
What do you think about this? Do you think that The Witcher will succeed without Cavill?
