The Writers of JIGSAW Are Working on Another SAW Sequel
A couple of months ago it was rumored that Lionsgate was going to be developing a ninth film in the Saw franchise. It shouldn't come as a surprise. Jigsaw was a big success for the studio, and as long as these Saw films keep raking in the cash, Lionsgate is going to continue to make sequel after sequel until finally, people stop watching them.
Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that the studio is now actually moving forward with these plans and that they have hired the writers of Jigsaw, Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, to bring back that bloody magic. They are currently actively developing that script.
The report says they are "unsure if the next installment will be a direct followup to Jigsaw or SAW 3D: The Final Chapter." Aren't they part of the same story though, just with a different name? It's just going to be the ninth chapter in the horror franchise.
Jigsaw was alright, but I'm just over Jigsaw and the whole Saw franchise. It's just more of the same, but with different brutal ways of killing people. Who knows, maybe they'll switch it up this time and try something different, but I doubt they will. They have a formula that seems to work for their audience.
There's no director attached to the film yet. Do you have any ideas that you'd like to see executed in the Saw franchise? Or are you done with it?
I would love to see the franchise end with Macaulay Culkin's Home Alone character Kevin McCallister being the silent mastermind behind the whole thing.
