The X-Men Assemble in New Photo From X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX

20th Century Fox wants to remind us that X-Men: Dark Phoenix is a movie that is still going to be coming out. They’ve released a new photo from the film that features Professor Xavier (James McAvoy) uniting heroes Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee).

This photo isn’t much, but it’s something new to share with you. This film project is getting a lot of mixed reactions from fans. In the end, I just hope that is turns out to be a good, entertaining movie.

It’s been reported that Fox asked Marvel Studios Kevin Feige to review the script and tone for the film. While many people have speculated that this could lead to some kind of continuation into the MCU, this is most likely just a courtesy that he provided. Hopefully, they utilized any input that he had.

In Dark Phoenix, the X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling our of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite - not only to save Jean's soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Dark Phoenix also stars Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, and Jessica Chastain, who will be taking on the role of a mysterious villain in the story.

A trailer for the film was released a couple months ago, which you can watch again here. The film has undergone some pretty serious reshoots that involve the third act of the film.

With all of the additional work that needs to be done on the film, including the visual effects, the release date was pushed back to June 7th, 2019.
