Time To Scrub in Again! ABC Drops Full Trailer for the SCRUBS Revival Series
ABC has released the first full-length trailer for its upcoming revival of Scrubs, bringing fans back to the halls of Sacred Heart Medical Center with a mix of familiar faces and fresh blood. And yes, it feels like slipping back into a well-worn pair of scrubs.
The trailer reunites Zach Braff as Dr. John Dorian, Donald Faison as Christopher Turk, Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid, John C. McGinley as Dr. Cox, and Judy Reyes as Carla Espinosa.
Watching them interact again inside Sacred Heart hits that nostalgic nerve that longtime fans like myself have been waiting for. The revival doesn’t just lean on memory either. It introduces a new generation of doctors stepping into the chaos, heart, and humor that defined the original run.
Created by Bill Lawrence, Scrubs first premiered on NBC in 2001 and followed J.D.’s early days as a young doctor trying to survive the unpredictable world of medicine. The series carved out its own space in television history by blending absurd fantasy sequences with grounded emotional storytelling. It ran for seven seasons on NBC before being cancelled in 2008.
ABC revived the show for an eighth season in 2009 and later renewed it for a ninth season in 2010. That final chapter was originally pitched as a spinoff titled Scrubs: Medical School. During that season, only Faison and McGinley returned as series regulars before the series was ultimately cancelled.
Now, more than a decade later, ABC is giving Scrubs another shot, and this time it’s bringing back much of the original core cast while expanding the ensemble. New additions include Vanessa Bayer, Joel Kim Booster, Ava Bunn, Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Layla Mohammadi, and Amanda Morrow.
Original cast members Robert Maschio and Phill Lewis are also returning, rounding out a lineup that blends old-school Sacred Heart energy with new personalities.
Behind the scenes, several Scrubs veterans are steering the ship. Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra serve as executive producers and showrunners on the revival. Braff, Faison, Chalke, and Lawrence are also executive producing.
The new chapter of Scrubs premieres on ABC on Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, with all episodes also streaming on Hulu.
For fans who grew up with J.D.’s internal monologues, Turk and J.D.’s bromance, and Dr. Cox’s brutal life lessons, this revival looks like a chance to check back in with characters who helped define early 2000s television. Sacred Heart may have new interns walking its halls, but the spirit of Scrubs seems very much intact.
