Todd McFarlane Wants Leonardo DiCaprio To Play Twitch in His SPAWN Movie

After nearly twenty years of teasing a new Spawn movie, Todd McFarlane finally set it up at a studio and he's set to direct it. He's already bragged about having a couple Oscar winning actors approaching him about the movie, but as of right now, no one has been cast. There is one actor that McFarlane would like to cast in the film and that actor is Leonardo DiCaprio.

It was recently revealed that the film would mostly focus on the detective character Twitch. That is who DiCaprio would play if McFarlane gets his way. The Spawn creator talked about why he thinks DiCaprio is perfect for the role during an interview with Vulture, in which he said:

"Given that the big lead was Twitch [an NYPD Detective who comes to track Spawn] when I was writing, I had Leonardo DiCaprio in my head. I don't know if people have seen The Wolf of Wall Street, but there is a manicness in him, he was going up and down, and up and down, and up and down; it was almost dizzying, emotionally, to go with him. And there are parts in this movie where I'm going to need an actor to be able to make those moves. Both in terms of normality, in terms of manic, in terms of anger, and in terms of joy - and be able to go to some extremes in it."

What's interesting about that, is in the comics Twitch is kind of a stoic, soft-spoken character that is an observant kind of detective, who has a talent for solving crimes. Is McFarlane looking to change up the character a bit in the new film to a maniacal type character?

I actually think DiCaprio is an interesting choice for Twitch that could work. Regardless, with a $10 million dollar budget, I seriously doubt McFarlane will get the actor to join the film.
