Tom Cruise Partners with Warner Bros. to Develop New Movies
Tom Cruise has officially partnered with Warner Bros. in a deal that will see him develop several new movies with the studio. In a press release that was shared, it was revealed that Cruise will be developing and producing “original and franchise theatrical films” that will be led by him in 2024.
Cruise has worked on several film with WB in the past including Edge of Tomorrow, The Last Samurai, Interview with the Vampire, Risky Business, Eyes Wide Shut, and more with the studio. Cruise and his production company will also have offices on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank.
Cruise has been with Paramount Pictures for several years developing projects there, and he will continue to do so. This deal will not affect Mission: Impossible 8 or his $200M space movie, which is being directed by Doug Liman and is set up at Universal Pictures.
Cruise said in a statement: “I have great respect and admiration for David, Pam, Mike, and the entire team at Warner Bros. Discovery and their commitment to movies, movie fans, and the theatrical experience. I look forward to making great movies together!”
Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group’s Co-Chairs and CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy said: “We are thrilled to be working with Tom, an absolute legend in the film industry. Our vision, from day one, has been to rebuild this iconic studio to the heights of its glory days, and, in fact, when we first sat down with David Zaslav to talk about joining the Warner Bros. Discovery team, he said to us, ‘We are on a mission to bring Warner Bros. back – we have the best resources, storytelling IP, and talent in the business – and we need to bring Tom Cruise back to Warner Bros!’
They added: “Today, that becomes a reality and we are one step closer to achieving our ambition. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Tom back to Warner Bros. and look forward to bringing more of his genius to life on screen in the years ahead.”
Well, I just hope this deal means that Cruise will actually be able to get his Edge of Tomorrow sequel off the ground! It’ll be cool to see what film’s that the actor and producer end up developing at the studio.
