Tom Hiddleston Suggests He'll Return as Loki in the MCU and Teases His Reunion with Thor

Loki star Tom Hiddleston believes that he’s not finished with playing the God of Mischief yet. The Season 2 finale of Loki definitely delivered a satisfying conclusion to his story, but the actor recently suggested that he’s not done with Loki and teased his eventual reunion with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.

He previously explained that the end of Loki Season 2 was the conclusion to 14 years of his life, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see Loki again. During an interview with ComicBook, the actor talked about his future in the MCU, and said:

"It's so hard because I'll be completely honest with you, I have at least twice in my life said goodbye. I've written to Kevin Feige and Louis de Esposito and Victoria Alonso and been like, 'Thank you so much. It's been like the role of a lifetime,' and they've written notes back saying, 'Come and see us anytime. You're always part of the family. We're always here. You've given us so much and tears have been shared.' So I think I'd be unwise at this point to be conclusive about any of it.”

Hiddleston also weighed in on the possibility of this new version of Loki one day reuniting with Thor, which is something that I’d love to see happen. He explained:

"I think both Thor and Loki have had to excavate and analyze the past and who they feel they really are and what they really want. But what's interesting about family as well, this is just me thinking about it, is sometimes it will be difficult to let go of the preconception of who they used to be. Loki might be expecting Thor to behave in a certain way or be a certain way. Thor might be expecting Loki to be a certain way."

"So I think initially it would be really confusing, but also they'd been apart for a long time and no doubt they've been objects in each other's mind. And so yeah, I think I wonder what a reunion would likely be. We'll see."

I’m sure that we’ll see that reunion in the MCU one day, but one thing we know for sure is that it’s not going to happen anytime soon. There’s a lot to go through and Marvel has this big plan leading up to Avengers: Secret Wars that may or may not involve these two characters. Really, anything is possible with that final Multiverse Saga film.

Loki executive producer Kevin Wright also talked about wanting to see a Loki and Thor reunion, saying:

"That would always be my hope, is that somewhere, somewhere down the line, somebody gets to tell that story because [Loki's] so different and because Thor is so different now, too. I think that's what makes it interesting is, in my head - they're weirdly different, but I think there would just be a deep internal understanding between the two of them. And I think it could be just something really beautiful and cool."

We’ll just have to wait and see what Marvel Studios has planned for Loki in the future, but it seems like his reunion with Thor is written in the multiverse.
