Tom Holland Calls Christopher Nolan’s THE ODYSSEY “The Best Script I’ve Ever Read”

Tom Holland just wrapped filming on Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated adaptation of The Odyssey, and the actor is already calling it a career-defining experience. Before diving into his next Marvel outing with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland opened up about his time working with Nolan and praised the film’s script in a big way.

“The script is the best script I’ve ever read,” Holland told Agence France-Presse (via France 24).

Holland takes on the role of Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, in the epic retelling of Homer’s legendary poem. The movie follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca, on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War, and Nolan has assembled a powerhouse cast to bring it to life.

Starring alongside Holland are Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, and Elliot Page, among others.

Speaking about his experience on set, Holland described Nolan as both a visionary and an approachable collaborator.

“He knows what he wants… but it is not an environment where you can’t pitch ideas or build characters in certain ways,” Holland explained. “He is a real collaborator.”

This isn’t the first time Holland has raved about working with Nolan. He previously shared that filming The Odyssey was “the job of a lifetime.” He added:

“The best experience I’ve had on the film set. Incredible. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma [Thomas] was absolutely fantastic.

“I’ve never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they’re the best in the business for sure. To get a front row seat to that and to be a part of the process and to collaborate with a true master of his craft and learn from him was the best experience I’ve ever had.”

With such strong praise from Holland and a cast stacked with talent, Nolan’s The Odyssey is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of 2026. The movie is set to premiere on July 17, 2026, and if Holland’s words are any indication, audiences are in for something awesome.
