Tom Holland Shares The JAMES BOND Pitch He Made and Admits It Was a Stupid Idea

Spider-Man star Tom Holland previously revealed that he pitched a James Bond movie idea to Sony Pictures around the time he was shooting Spider-Man: Far From Home. While they said no to that, that’s what led to his Uncharted movie. Holland shared at the time:

“I had a meeting, after or during Spider-Man 2 [Far From Home], with Sony to pitch this idea of a young Bond film that I’d come up with. It was the origin story of James Bond. It didn’t really make sense. It didn’t work. It was the dream of a young kid, and I don’t think the Bond estate were particularly interested.

“The idea of a young Bond film sparked this idea, in turn, that you could do a Nathan Drake story as an origin story, rather than as an addition to the games. And that opened a conversation.”

Holland has now shared some additional details on this Bond project that he pitched and he also admits that it was a stupid idea. During his recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyer, Holland said:

"It didn't work out quite as planned. Essentially, I'm such a big fan of James Bond. I've loved Daniel Craig's movies. And I just thought: If they were to move on it would be really exciting to see how James Bond becomes James Bond. So I pitched this idea for a movie, which is kind of a stupid idea. Essentially you wouldn't tell the audience that it was a James Bond movie until the end, but from a marketing point of view, that's a nightmare. Like that just doesn't make any sense."

Yeah, that was definitely a brain fart of an idea. But, so was that Uncharted movie, and Sony went ahead and made that anyway. I’d like to see Holland come up with a cool original film idea for himself. He’s a talented young actor and he’s given some great performances outside of Spider-Man, I’d like to see him create an original film character, story, and possible franchise for himself. I’d like to see what that would be for him.

What kind of films would you like to see Holland take on outside of Marvel?
