TOMB RAIDER Set Photos and Video Show Sophie Turner’s Rugged Version of Lara Croft in Action
Photos from the set of Tomb Raider have surfaced online, and they offer us a new look at how this take on Lara Croft is shaping up. The images, which started making the rounds on X, capture Sophie Turner mid-stunt as the iconic adventurer, and they suggest this version of Lara is leaning hard into action and physicality.
In the photos, Turner is seen completing a parachute sequence over water, followed by shots of her fully geared up on land.
Lara is outfitted in a tactical suit with weapons holstered on both hips, giving the character a more combat-ready. It’s a grounded look, practical and tough, and it fits nicely with what fans expect from Croft at this stage of her story.
Tomb Raider reimagines the legendary action-adventure franchise as a television series. Turner stars as Lara Croft, portrayed here as an ambitious archaeologist with a taste for danger and discovery.
The supporting cast includes Martin Bobb-Semple as Zip, Lara’s tech-savvy ally; Jason Isaacs as Atlas DeMornay, her uncle; Bill Paterson as Winston, the longtime Croft family butler; and Sigourney Weaver as Evelyn Wallis, a mysterious figure who recognizes Lara’s potential.
The ensemble continues with Jack Bannon as Gerry, John Heffernan as David, Celia Imrie as Francine, Paterson Joseph as Thomas Warner, Sasha Luss as Sasha, Juliette Motamed as Georgia, and August Wittgenstein as Lukas.
The creative force behind the series is Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer. The show marks her return to television after Fleabag and Killing Eve, both of which earned major acclaim.
Waller-Bridge is also acting as co-showrunner alongside executive producer Chad Hodge, with Jonathan Van Tulleken directing and executive producing.
As a longtime fan of Tomb Raider, I’m hoping that this series turns out great!
