Tony Todd Will Return for FINAL DESTINATION 6 and New Story Details

A new report has surfaced that horror icon Tony Todd has signed on to reprise his role as William Bludworth in the upcoming sixth installment of Final Destination. The actor previously appeared as the creepy mortician in Final Destination, Final Destination 2, and Final Destination 5. It’ll be good to see him back in the horror. franchise.

Final Destination 6 reportedly centers on first responders, and according to Bloody-Disgusting, “the film digs into Bludworth’s backstory, including a flashback to his childhood that reveals more about his connection to death.”

Franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick previously talked about Final Destination 6 saying that it “unearths a whole deep layer to the story.” That makes a lot more sense now that we have an idea of what the story will entail.

When previously talking about the movie, Reddick said that they are going to change things up a lot as the story will not involve the formula that the franchise beat to death over the first five films.

“I will say that it’s not just going to be another kind of ‘we set up a group of people, they cheat death, and then just death gets them.’ And there’s one wrinkle that we kind of added to every movie to kind of like change it up a little bit: this one is… a true Final Destination movie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established.”

The general concept of the franchise follows the following formula: “A character has a premonition of a horrific and deadly event, cheats his or her own death, and saves several other lives in the process, only to have Death, as a personified but unstoppable force, come for the survivors one by one.”

It’ll be interesting to see them do something a little different with this next movie. Production on the film is set to take place in Vancouver after the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved. Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein (Freaks) will direct from a script by Guy Busick (Scream, Scream VI) and Lori Evans Taylor (Bed Rest). Filmmaker Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) is a producer on the movie.
