Trailer for the Civil War Spy Series THE GRAY HOUSE Sees Mary-Louise Parker Lead a Dangerous Game of Deception
Prime Video has dropped the first official trailer for The Gray House, a Civil War-era historical drama that dives into a side of American history that doesn’t get nearly enough attention.
Set in the 1800s and rooted in true events, the series follows a covert network of women whose secret work helped shift the course of the American Civil War. The show looks like a tense, character-driven story with real stakes and a powerful sense of purpose.
According to Prime Video, the series is “about a network of female spies who transformed the course of American history.” The story unfolds along the Underground Railroad, where four women evolve from railroad operatives into full-blown spies operating deep within Confederate territory. Every move they make puts their lives on the line, and the trailer leans hard into that constant pressure.
The cast is led by Mary-Louise Parker, alongside Amethyst Davis, Daisy Head, Ben Vereen, Paul Anderson, Robert Knepper, Keith David, Marc Jenner, Colin Morgan, and others.
All eight episodes are directed by filmmaker Roland Joffé, known for films like The Killing Fields and The Mission. The series is co-written by Darrell Fetty, John Sayles, and Leslie Greif, and it comes from Territory Pictures, Revelations Entertainment, Republic Pictures, and Big Dreams Ent.
Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman serve as executive producers.
Here’s the official synopsis, reads: “The Gray House is a historical drama series about a network of female spies who transformed the course of American history. The series focuses on the true story of unsung women who turned the tide of the American Civil War in favor of the North.
“A Virginia socialite, her mother, a formerly enslaved sister-in-arms, and a notorious courtesan operate deep inside the corridors of Confederate power. They transform their Underground Railroad into an effective & even more dangerous Underground Spy Network, risking life & liberty to help win the war and preserve American democracy.”
The trailer packs in enough intrigue, menace, and emotional weight to make a strong first impression. This feels like an important story to tell, one that shines a light on what really went down and who was truly putting everything on the line.
The Gray House is set to debut on Prime Video on February 26th, 2026.
