Trailer for the Werewolf Thriller THE FOREST HILLS with Shelley Duvall and Edward Furlong
The first trailer has been released for the upcoming werewolf horror movie The Forest Hills. Earlier this year, it was announced last week that Shelley Duvall (The Shining, Popeye) would appear in her first film in 20 years, this is the trailer for that movie.
The Forest Hills comes from writer and director Scott Goldberg. The movie also stars Edward Furlong (Terminator 2), Dee Wallace (E.T, Cujo), and Chiko Mendez. This is a low-budget indie film that may not be for everyone, but the fact that Duvall came out of retirement for it is a pretty big deal.
The Forest Hills follows “a disturbed man who is tormented by nightmarish visions, after enduring head trauma while camping in the Catskill Mountains. Duvall will play the mother of the mentally and emotionally disturbed Rico (Mendez), who serves as his inner voice.” Furlong plays Billy, a man who influences Rico to believe that he can become a werewolf.
Goldberg tells Bloody Disgusting, “For the transformation process throughout the film, we are doing all practical special effects. There is absolutely no CGI for the transformation sequences because we grew up watching films in the early 80s that had to create the horror through practical special effects.”
Goldberg previously said in a statement: “We are huge fans of The Shining and it’s honestly one of my favorite horror movies of all time, up there with John Carpenter’s Halloween and George A. Romero’s Day of the Dead with the dark tones they delivered in their movies, along with perfect scores and elements that make them my personal favorites. Shelley contributed to The Shining being an absolute masterpiece by giving her all, and performing in a way that really showcased the fear and horror of a mother in isolation.”
