Trailer for Uwe Boll’s CITIZEN VIGILANTE Puts Armie Hammer in the Middle of a Brutal Vigilante Thriller
A trailer has been released for Citizen Vigilante, the latest action thriller from Uwe Boll, and it looks exactly like the kind of provocative vigilante story you'd expect from the filmmaker.
The movie also marks another high-profile role for Armie Hammer, who stars in the lead as he continues his attempt to return to the spotlight.
The film follows Sanders, a wealthy American businessman who has relocated to Zagreb after inheriting a massive real estate empire from his late father. Intelligent, isolated, and carrying deep emotional scars, Sanders takes it upon himself to deliver justice where he believes the legal system has failed.
His targets include violent criminals, rapists, and corrupt judges who managed to avoid meaningful punishment. As his increasingly ruthless campaign spreads across social media and news outlets, Sanders evolves into two very different things at once: a wanted criminal and a public hero.
Standing in Sanders' way is Interpol Chief Henry, played by Costas Mandylor, who views the vigilante as a growing danger and launches an international manhunt to bring him down.
Boll has described the project as "an action film inspired by real events, based on real cases and a commentary about injustice." The story explores how a man taking the law into his own hands can become both a fugitive and a viral sensation in the eyes of the public.
The film adds another title to Boll's extensive filmography, which includes House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, Postal, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, Far Cry, Rampage, Assault on Wall Street, and most recently First Shift.
Whether audiences embrace it or dismiss it, the movie is sure to generate conversation thanks to the people involved and its controversial subject matter. If you're curious to see what Boll and Hammer have cooked up, Citizen Vigilante arrives on VOD on June 19, 2026.
