Two New WONDER WOMAN 1984 Photos Feature Diana Prince in Her New Gold Armor and Dancing with Steve Trevor
We’ve got a couple of new photos to share with you from DC’s Wonder Woman 1984 thanks to Empire. The first image shows Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) rocking her new gold winged armor. The other one shows her dancing with Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) in front of the Lincoln memorial.
When talking about the upcoming sequel, Gadot explained how Diana Prince has changed between the first film and this new one:
“The first movie was a coming of age, it was Diana becoming Wonder Woman. She was very naive and she didn’t understand the complexities of life. A fish out of water. In this movie, that’s not the case whatsoever. Diana has evolved. She’s much more mature and very wise. However, she’s very lonely. She lost all of her team members and she’s guarded. And then something crazy happens.”
The crazy thing that happens is Steve Trevor coming back somehow! We don’t know exactly how that’s going to happen, but it’s safe to assume that Pedro Pascal’s villainous Maxwell Lord has something to do with it. When talking about Pine’s return, the actress goes on to say:
“Chris was an integral part of the movie, and of its success. And because he and I and Patty really enjoyed working together, we all wanted to have him back. And Patty and [co-writer] Geoff Johns found the best way that serves the narrative to bring Steve back.”
The story picks up with Diana Prince as she’s working at the Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C., and she’s been living a quiet, lonely life since the events of the first movie. But she’s still just trying to help the people who need it.
Producer Charles Roven previously said:
"She has not only had the loss of [Chris Pine’s] Steve Trevor. [but] she’s lost nearly all the people that are important to her because they’re not immortal, and her life is actually quite lonely and spartan. In fact, the only joy that she gets out of it is when she’s actually doing something for people, if she can help those in need."
The story will also introduce Dr. Barbara Minerva, a.k.a. Cheetah (Kristen Wiig), which is sure to be interesting to see. The Patty Jenkins-directed sequel is now set to premiere in theaters on August 24th.
