Universal Removes Jordan Peele's Next Film From the Studio's 2024 Slate
At the beginning of the year, it was announced that Universal had given their Christmas Day 2024 release date slot to director Jordan Peele for his next film project. This would be the fourth film in his directing career, behind his hits Get Out, Us, and Nope. But the announcement came before the writers and actors went on a months-long strike this summer, resulting in most projects getting a pushed back release date. This Untitled Peele project was just one of the casualties.
Luckily, the movie is still being made, we just won’t see it on Christmas Day in 2024. Little is known about the next film, which is on par for the director, who tends to keep his projects under wraps while they are being made. It does make us wonder if this was going to be a Christmas-themed horror movie though. I know that with Peele at the helm, it would have been much higher quality than the cheesy slasher holiday movies we have been getting.
This film will head into production in 2024, and hopefully we will have some news about it soon. Peele is also busy working on the recently announced video game collaboration he’s doing with Hideo Kojima for the new horror game “OD,” which Kojima describes as an “immersive and totally new style of game” that will explore “what it means to OD on fear.” The game stars Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schaefer, and Udo Kier.
Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions are also set to produce a remake of Wes Craven’s crazy 1991 horror movie The People Under The Stairs. Doom Patrol and Night Sky screenwriter Ezra Claytan Daniels has signed on to write the screenplay for the movie, which is set up at Universal Pictures. The story follows two adults and a kid who break into a house occupied by a brother and sister and their stolen children. There, they must fight for their lives.
Are you looking forward to the next Jordan Peele original movie?
