Viggo Mortensen Was Offered The Role of Thomas Wayne in JOKER But Turned It Down
Warner Bros. is obviously looking to get a big A-list star to take on the role of Thomas Wayne in Todd Phillips' Joker. Alec Baldwin was initially cast in the role, then a couple days later he made a statement about it saying he wasn't "hired to play a role in Todd Phillips’ JOKER as some Donald Trump manque." After that statement was made, it was reported that he had dropped out of the role due to scheduling conflicts.
Turns out before Baldwin had been cast, Viggo Mortensen (The Lord of the Rings) was offered the role, but he ultimately turned it down. That news comes from entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider, who also says that "Wayne Manor will be a location in the film."
Baldwin and Mortensen offer us some insight on the kind of big talent they are looking for to fill this role. It makes me wonder who they will go for next. It will certainly be interesting to see who actually ends up taking on the role of Wayne, who has been described as "a cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of 1980s Donald Trump."
A lot of fans aren't really happy with that description of Wayne because it's nothing like the character that we know from the comics.
Are there any big prestigious actors you can think of that you'd like to see take on the role of Thomas Wayne in this Joker movie?
