Vin Diesel Reportedly Not Happy With Jason Momoa's Over-The-Top Performance in FAST X
There are a lot of people who actually liked Jason Momoa’s ridiculous over-the-top performance in Fast X, but you know who apparently didn’t like it? Vin Diesel. He was not happy with his portrayal of the character, and it might not be for the reason you think it is.
RadarOnline is reporting that Diesel is blaming Momoa for Fast X’s terrible reviews in which critics and fans are calling out the movie for its stupid plot and outlandish action. The report goes on to say that Diesel isn’t happy that Momoa is being praised as the only bright spot in the film.
A source said: “Vin is embarrassed Jason is being branded the only bright spot in the film and stealing his thunder in the franchise he built himself.” Insiders are also saying that Diesel is telling people that Momoa’s “overacting” and “scene-stealing” nature was a factor in the poor reviews and undermined the film.
The report goes on to note that Momoa knows how Diesel feels, but there’s no word on if this will lead to any changes moving forward.
If Diesel was really unhappy with Momoa, why didn’t he change the direction during the filming of the movie? Director Louis Leterrier said that the character Dante was created over he and Momoa making each other laugh and also trying to make Diesel laugh, and they could never break him. He said:
"[Jason Momoa and I] found each other on this movie, and we realized that making each other laugh was a great way to create Dante. So we rewrote the dialogue together. I'd say, 'You should say enchanté,' and then we would add 'very bad daddy.' So we really liked making each other laugh, and the extra points, the joker of our game, was to get Vin to crack up and come out of character as Dom Toretto.
"We tried really hard. Like when Dante calls Dom 'butthole,' but Vin is so focused when he is on set that it was impossible. And when we would call cut, Vin would be like, 'Oh, you guys tried really hard!' So we were like kids on set, and it was absolute fun."
So, I guess Diesel could blame the director as well for Momoa’s portrayal of the character. Regardless, Leterrier was asked to come back and direct the sequel, so Diesel must’ve been ok with what he did with the film.
Then, of course, there’s the chance that nothing in this report is true. What do you think about this recent report?
