Vinnie Jones Turned Down Opportunity to Play Juggernaut Again in DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE

Deadpool & Wolverine promises to deliver all kinds of cameos from all parts of the Marvel movies that have been made over the years. So many names of actors and characters have been reported, rumored, and speculated, but one character and actor that we can scratch off the list is Vinnie Jones.

Jones played the mutant Juggernaut in X-Men: The Last Stand, and he was actually approached about appearing in the third Deadpool movie! Unfortunately, he turned down the opportunity because of his experience in in the costume while making X-Men 3. During an interview with Yahoo UK, he explained:

"Funnily enough I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one now, and I spoke to the director and I just said it's such a drama putting that suit on mentally and physically. I mean it had its mental toll as well because you're in it and you can't do anything all day, you can only drink through a straw. So we couldn't strike the deal for Deadpool."

It would’ve been great to see Jones back as Juggernaut! It’s a shame that they couldn’t work out a deal. But, the fact that he was approached tells us how far director Shawn Levy and the creative team are willing to go to bring back familiar Marvel movie faces from older movies.

In the film, “After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis. Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman. But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement. He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival, but ultimately, their legacy."

It’s also explained: "That f–king irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?"

The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Emma Corrin as the villain Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in an unknown role, Karan Soni as Dopinder, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand, and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. Rob Delaney will return as Peter and Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26th!
