Wait... Is INDIANA JONES 5 Actually Going To Involve Time Travel?
I’ve been hearing rumors for awhile from insiders that I know that Indiana Jones 5 was going to involve time travel. I’ve also been seeing these rumors being shared online by others. I haven’t really shared this information because I wanted to wait for a bit more proof to present itself.
Well, it looks like maybe this information actually is true and some pretty compelling proof of it has popped up online. Before I go any further, I’m going to throw out a spoiler warning for those of you who don’t want to know what this possible proof is.
So, some set photos from the film have surfaced over at Daily Mail that feature some interesting visuals. One of these visuals show Roman soldiers on a beach shore brandishing swords and shields. Another photo shows them rowing a boat. There are also shots of the soldiers lining up behind a barricade, and charging forward, swords in the air.
There are also shots of Harrison Ford sitting on the ground looking a little disheveled as it looks like he may have just parachuted from a plane and landed. He is wearing a parachute and Phoebe Waller-Bridge is also in these photos with him.
Now, Ford is not seen in any of the photos with the Roman Soldiers. The question is, why are there Roman Soldiers in this movie? Well, it can be one of two things… either Indiana Jones has traveled through time, or this a flashback sequence being filmed offering a little history on what Jones is involved with in this next adventure of his.
It’ll be interesting to see what comes of this, but now that I’m seeing these photos, I guess it’s not too far-fetched to think that Indiana Jones could find himself traveling through time somehow. We’ll find out soon enough.
James Mangold is directing the film and it also stars Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Antonio Banderas, and Shaunette Renée Wilson.
Steven Spielberg is a producer on the film alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel. We also know that John Williams is returning as the film’s composer.
We don’t know anything solid about the story, but we do know that there will be some de-aging for Ford. The movie has also filmed scenes at the "haunted" Bamburgh Castle, which has fans speculating that this movie will include a scrapped Last Crusade storyline that saw Indiana Jones battling a ghost while on vacation. You can read more about that here.
The story for this film is reportedly set in the 60’s during the space race, which has seemingly been confirmed with other set photos that have surfaced. Those photos show a big ticker-tape parade featuring red, white, and blue prop signs that read “Welcome Back to Earth” and “Welcome Back Astronauts.”
Indiana Jones 5 is set to be released on July 29, 2022.
