WALKING DEAD Movies Confirmed to Be in Development

We recently learned that AMC is planning for another decade of The Walking Dead. We knew that would involve more spinoff shows and speculated that it might involve movies. Now, it’s been confirmed that Walking Dead movies are a part of the plan! Bloomberg reports the following:

“The company, which owns the popular zombie-apocalypse series, plans to produce multiple movies and new TV shows based on the graphic novels that spawned the series, according to people familiar with the plans. AMC has talked to several large media companies about partnering on the projects, which collectively could cost several hundred million dollars.”

There are also rumors going around that Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes will return and be the focus for one of these feature films that they are developing. That would be pretty awesome if it turned out to be true.

I never thought that they would kill off Rick Grimes in this series and branching his story off into film form would be a great way to carry one his journey and allow for Lincoln to spend more time with his family, which is one of the reasons why he felt it was time to leave the show.
