Warner Bros. and HBO Max in Talks to Close Deal on HARRY POTTER Series

Rumor has it that Warner Bros. is nearing a deal to bring Harry Potter back to the fans in a new way. Bloomberg reports that a credible source close to the project reported the studio is making a deal for a new series based on Harry Potter, the best-selling young adult books by J.K. Rowling.

The sources says that each season of the series will be based on one of Rowling’s seven books, suggesting years of new material from the popular stories. There has been talk of this type of series happening since 2021.

The company is hoping the series can be one cornerstone of a new streaming strategy that will be announced next week by HBO’s parent, Warner Bros. That company’s chief executive officer, David Zaslav, and HBO chief Casey Bloys have worked to convince Rowling to produce a new series that will debut on HBO and online, but the deal hasn’t been completed.

IGN reports that “should a deal go through, the series would be developed as an HBO Max Original, rather than for HBO proper.”

The series would allow the writers to delve further into the world of Rowling’s books, many of which are longer than 500 pages. This would be amazing for fans of the book series, who took notice of omissions in the films, especially from book four on. There’s just so much story to tell. I think a series would be amazing! I wish it could have been done from the beginning so that we could have seen the original cast in the roles, but I would still be happy to watch this, nonetheless.

What do you think? Will you be excited if this deal goes through?
