Warner Bros. Gives DC's AQUAMAN 2 a Release Date in 2022
Warner Bros. has set the release date for DC’s Aquaman 2, and we are going to have to wait until December 16th, 2022 before we see Aquaman embark on a new adventure.
Not much is known about the film because there isn’t even a completed script for it yet. That script is currently being written by James Wan collaborator David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Wan, of course, will produce, but he has yet to sign on to direct it. Jason Mamoa and Amber Heard will also obviously be back to reprise their roles.
WB is also developing a horror-themed spinoff film called The Trench. That script is being written by Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald, and it will be “a horror-tinged script centered on the Trench, the deadly amphibious creatures seen attacking the hero and his love, Mera, in Aquaman.”
Aquaman is one of WB’s most successful DC films, and I bet they’re hoping that they can recreate that magic with the sequel.
