Official GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 Title Revealed!
Update: The title of the film has been confirmed as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The news comes from James Gunn himself saying:
Yes, the official title of the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Kevin Feige recently let the title slip while doing Ant-Man press, which I'm really happy about because God knows I've let more than one thing slip accidentally while chattering away on this FB page.
Also, hats off to some intrepid fans who figured out the title a couple of days after I posted the cover page. More than one person guessed "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" - I wanted so badly to give you props at the time, but knew I had to wait.
For Kevin to mess up. Haha.
Here's the original article I wrote up:
Earlier today, we posted an article in which writer/director James Gunn said that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 would be more of an emotional film than the first one. Now it seems that Kevin Feige may have revealed the actual title of the movie during an interview with Collider.
Feige was asked when the the sequel would start shooting, and he may have let the title slip out in his answer:
“We start shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 in February-March 2016.”
When the interview was over, Feige was asked if that was actually the film’s title, but he wouldn’t confirm or deny anything. It's really easy to imagine that the title of the film could be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, especially with the "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" playing a huge part in the first film. I'm sure you all remember the end of the movie when Peter Quill opened the present that his mother gave him before she died, and it turned out to be "Awesome Mix Vol. 2." The title of the film would obviously be a fun and very appropriate play on that.
The Guardians of the Galaxy sequel is set to be released on May 5th, 2017. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough what the official title will be, but it probably won't happen at Comic-Con next week!
