WATCH DOGS Movie in Development with the Star of TALK TO ME Sophie Wilde
New Regeny is developing a feature film adaptation of the popular Ubisoft video game Watch Dogs, and the star behind the hit horror film Talk To Me, Sophie Wilde, is set to star in the film.
The film is said to be set within the universe of Ubisoft’s blockbuster video game franchise, and it is being directed by Mathieu Turi (Hostile), from an original screenplay written by Christie LeBlanc ( Oxygen).
There are no details to share regarding the movie, but the story for the original game is set in a fictionalized version of Chicago, Illinois. It centers around the character Aiden Pearce, a highly skilled hacker seeking revenge after a tragic event involving his family.
All of the games are set in fictionalized versions of real-life cities, at various points in time, and follow different hacker protagonists who, while having different goals to achieve, find themselves involved with the criminal underworlds of their respective cities. The villains of the story are corrupt companies, crime bosses, and rival hackers who take advantage of ctOS (central Operating System), a fictional computing network that connects every electronic device in a city together into a single system and stores personal information on most citizens.
This isn’t the only game project that Turi is working on, he’s also writing and directing a television adaptation of the narrative video game A Plague Tale: Innocence.
Watch Dogs could make for a great movie with the right creative team in place. It’ll be interesting to see how this film turns out.
