WB Reportedly Loves Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN Script and Production May Start in 2019

We’ve got a promising and exciting new update from DC movie news scooper Umberto Gonzalez regarding The Batman. He reports that Warner Bros. loves the script that Matt Reeves turned in. He’s still doing revisions and polishing it up, but they are hoping to start shooting in the film in summer of 2019. The studio seems to be standing by his vision, and I can’t wait to see his vision realized on the big screen!

Ever since Reeves was hired to direct the movie, I’ve been excited to see what he would bring to this character and the world of Gotham City. He’s a great filmmaker and I’m sure he’s going to give fans something awesome and badass that fans will love.

We don’t have a lot of concrete information regarding the story that the film will tell. But, we do know that Reeves is looking to make a dark noir-style film that will focus on the detective side of the Dark Knight, and he has an idea for a story arc that would span over the course of a trilogy of films. It's said that he's looking to keep the story grounded but "will introduce at least some slight fantastical elements which fans of the hero will be familiar with."

It was also reported that The Penguin could be the main villain in the story. The version of this Penguin is said to based on the Emperor Penguin version and he's been modeled after "a very dapper looking Richard Armitage." There are other villains in the rogue gallery that are sure to pop up as well that could include Two-Face, The Riddler, and Victor Zsasz. I like Isaac in the role of Penguin, though. That's where I'd place my bet.

When previously talking about the movie, director Matt Reeves said:

"I’ve talked about making it a very point of view noir-driven definitive Batman story in which he is investigating a particular case and that takes us out into the world of Gotham. I went on a deep dive again revisiting all my favorite comics. Those all inform by osmosis. There’s no continuation of the Nolan films. It’s very much trying to find a way to do this as something that for me is going to be definitively Batman and new and cool."

Are you excited to see what Matt Reeves brings to the film?
