Wes Anderson Keeps Asking Jodie Foster to Join His Films and She Keeps Saying No
Wes Anderson has a long and great track record of building iconic ensembles casts for his films. He gets a lot of great actors and big names involved, but there’s one name that’s eluded him again and again… Jodie Foster.
In a recent interview with Collider, Anderson admitted that he’s tried to bring the Oscar-winning actress into his world many times over the years, but without success.
“Over the years, I had so many movies that I tried to get Jodie Foster to be in. It used to be every movie, we went to Jodie Foster for a part.
“And I think I did it three movies in a row, maybe four. And I met her, and I liked her. And I thought it was going to get her. And I think she’s just great, Jodie Foster. And I loved her.”
He didn’t spill the details on which films or roles he had in mind, but it’s not hard to guess. His admiration for her seems to run deep. Foster, it seems, has just been on a different creative wavelength. Anderson added:
“I still would like to get Jodie Foster, but I guess after asking few times, I thought maybe I’m not… I think sometimes somebody has an idea of the kind of work they want to do at that time in his or her life, and we weren’t right.”
It’s hard not to imagine what a Foster in a Wes Anderson film, she would be great! But, Maybe zfoster just isn’t a fan of Anderson’s storytelling and filmmaking style.
Meanwhile, Anderson’s latest feature The Phoenician Scheme is now in theaters and it’s great! The film stars Benicio del Toro as Zsa-zsa Korda, a wealthy businessman whose decision to leave his fortune to his nun daughter Sister Liesl (Mia Threapleton) triggers a deadly pursuit and wild adventure.
