Wild Red-Band Trailer for OVER YOUR DEAD BODY Unleashes a Twisted, Bloody Battle of Love

IFC Films released a new red-band trailer for Over Your Dead Body, and this thing goes hard. We’re talking brutal, absurd, and hilariously unhinged.

Directed by Jorma Taccone, the mind behind MacGruber and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, this movie takes relationship drama and cranks it up to full-on attempted murder.

The film already made its debut at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival, where it pulled in mostly positive reactions. People are calling it a wild mix of horror and comedy packed with nasty surprises, sharp turns, and plenty of blood.

At the center of the chaos are Samara Weaving and Jason Segel, playing a married couple who retreat to a remote cabin to fix what’s broken between them. That sounds nice until you realize both of them are secretly planning to kill the other. It’s basically couples therapy by way of knives, traps, and full-on carnage.

IFC describes it like this: "The film is a dark, twisted, and riotous action comedy, with a killer cast – a perfect recipe to delight audiences on the big screen."

And that cast also includes Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis, Paul Guilfoyle, and Keith Jardine all jumping into the madness.

Taccone is clearly leaning into his offbeat comedic instincts here, but this time he’s blending them with horror-level violence. Early SXSW reactions say the movie "is a thrilling and hilarious horror movie that delivers plenty of plot twists and gruesome wounds."

The script comes from Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, and it seems like it’s got that perfect mix of dark humor and over-the-top violence that feels like it’ll play incredibly well with a crowd.

Over Your Dead Body hits theaters on April 24, 2026.
