Wild Trailer For THE BRIDE! Teases Love, Death, and Monsters in 1930s Chicago

She’s alive and she’s ready to raise hell. Warner Bros. has unleashed the first trailer for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s upcoming monster movie The Bride!, and it looks like a dark, gritty, and wild new take on one of horror’s most iconic creations.

Starring Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s monster and Jessie Buckley as his electrifying companion, this film puts a bold spin on a classic tale. I really like what I’m seeing in theis trailer! This looks like it could be a great movie!

The official synopsis sets the stage: “A lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to seek the aid of a Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself. The two reinvigorate a murdered young woman and the Bride is born. She is beyond what either of them intended, igniting a combustible romance, the attention of the police and a wild and radical social movement.”

Drawing inspiration from both James Whale’s Bride of Frankenstein and Mary Shelley’s original Frankenstein novel, The Bride! introduces Buckley as the titular creation while Bale embodies the tortured monster.

The supporting cast includes Penélope Cruz as Myrna, Annette Bening, Peter Sarsgaard, Julianne Hough, and even Jake Gyllenhaal joining the eerie ensemble.

The Bride! marks Gyllenhaal’s second turn behind the camera after her acclaimed 2021 directorial debut The Lost Daughter, which earned three Academy Award nominations and also featured Buckley and Sarsgaard.

This isn’t the only Frankenstein project in development either. Guillermo del Toro is also bringing his own reimagining to Netflix with Jacob Elordi as the monster, alongside Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz.

Warner Bros. will release The Bride in theaters on March 6, 2026. Judging by this trailer, audiences are in for a gothic horror spectacle that breathes new unique life into one of cinema’s most legendary monsters.
