Wilson Fisk Actor Vincent D'Onofrio Says ECHO Will Explain How He Survived Getting Shot in HAWKEYE
Wilson Fisk is one of Marvel’s most formidable bad guys. This current iteration, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, first appeared in the Netflix series Daredevil, which is returning in the form of Daredevil: Born Again. But we had no idea we were going to meet back up with the character in the limited series Hawkeye, which led to his being shot by Maya Lopez, aka Echo. It seemed like that may have been the undoing of the big, bad character, but as D’Onofrio told TVLine:
“If you’re a fan of Kingpin and Daredevil — the old comics — you know that Kingpin never dies. We just had to figure out a clever way of [moving] on from that shot towards the face and how we bring it into Echo, and we came up with a really cool thing. He does get hurt pretty bad.”
The character will now wear an eyepatch, as the result of his gunshot wound. But it doesn’t seem like it will slow him down much, seeing as he is planning on appearing in all of Echo, then Daredevil: Born Again, and he’s even rumored to play a role in Spider-Man 4. It will be cool to see how they explain it though. Not that they need to do much to explain why a Marvel villain survived a gunshot wound. They’ve survived worse.
Echo dropped its entire five-episode series on Disney+ on January 9th, and Daredevil: Born Again is going to be released in 2025 or 2026.
