Winston Duke and LaKeith Stanfield to Star in the Dystopian Animated Feature SLIME

The upcoming animated sci-fi thriller Slime just leveled up its cast in a big way. Winston Duke (Black Panther) and LaKeith Stanfield (Roofman, Judas and the Black Messiah) have officially joined the dystopian feature from Sundance award-winning filmmaker Jeron Braxton, marking his feature debut.

They’ll join an already stacked lineup that includes Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi, Willow Smith, Teyana Taylor, Anna Sawai, John Cho, and John Boyega. Production kicks off later this month.

Set in a crumbling near-future world, Slime follows Muna (Smith), a broke but optimistic young woman who signs up for a paid clinical trial and is injected with a mysterious creature’s slime that gives her destructive, uncontrollable powers.

After things spiral out of control, she takes Glenn (Mescudi), the lab worker who administered the experiment, hostage. The two embark on a desperate journey through a collapsing society searching for a cure, while Muna wrestles with the terrifying question: is she humanity’s ultimate threat or its last hope?

Described as an anime-inspired, pre-apocalyptic sci-fi monster flick with retro video game aesthetics, Slime promises a wild, visually immersive experience. The film is written by Brian Ash and will feature an original soundtrack and score from Kid Cudi himself.

Duke continues to ride high in his career after returning as M’Baku in the Black Panther films and appearing alongside Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy. Up next, he’ll reprise his Marvel role in Avengers: Doomsday.

Stanfield, meanwhile, keeps his momentum going with recent roles in Roofman opposite Channing Tatum and Play Dirty opposite Mark Wahlberg. He’ll next be seen in Neon’s The Wrong Girls, Warner Bros.’ F.A.S.T., and Boots Riley’s I Love Boosters.

Behind the scenes, Hammerstone continues to build a strong slate following films like Barbarian, Flight Risk, and Don’t Move. The company is currently in post-production on By Any Means starring Mark Wahlberg and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and At the Sea featuring Amy Adams.
