With BARRY Coming to an End, Bill Hader Wants to Direct a Feature Film and Has Ideas
HBO’s Barry is coming to an end with its current fourth season, and Bill Hader has got some ideas for what he wants to do next. The actor would like to direct a feature film and he’s been working on a few possible projects.
During a recent interview with THR, the actor was asked about what he would like to do next, and he responded: "I would do a feature, for sure. [Writer] Duffy Boudreau and I have written something, but there’s also things that I’ve done, there’s two other ideas that I’m knocking around."
When asked if he would also star in the film project he directs he said: "I don’t know, it just kind of happens the way it happens. Like Barry, I learned anytime I try to predict how to do it or what to do, it just wants to go someplace else. I’m learning to just remain open."
There are no details on what any of these films would entail, but I bet he’d be great at directing a film. He was able to work as a director on episodes of Barry. Most notably his work in the Season 3 episode “710N,” which featured a great sequence that saw Barry weave his way through traffic while on the run from a biker gang.
Hader has the ability to seamlessly transition between comedy and drama. He has proven time and time again that he can make audiences laugh with his impeccable timing and spot-on impressions, but he can also bring the dramatic performances. This versatility has allowed him to take on a wide range of roles.
I’ll be looking forward to seeing what Hader does next. Hopefully, he manages to get one of these film projects off the ground.
