WONDER MAN Cast Has Wild Ideas for Season 2, Including a Cosmic Adventure and the Mystery of Josh Gad
The first season of Marvel’s Wonder Man ended up being a great show and a big hit that fans seemed to embrace. While we wait to see what comes next, the cast and creative team are throwing around some entertaining ideas for where a potential second season could go.
If their wish list becomes reality, fans could see everything from Trevor Slattery exploring outer space to finally learning what happened to Josh Gad after his bizarre Season 1 finale appearance.
During a recent Television Academy panel, the Wonder Man team shared some thoughts on what they’d like to see next, and it sounds like they have no interest in taking the predictable route.
One of the more amusing pitches came from Ben Kingsley, who plays fan-favorite actor-turned-accidental-adventurer Trevor Slattery. While Trevor has found himself in some strange situations over the years, Kingsley would love to see the character venture even farther from home.
“I would love Trevor’s story to go into outer space, but I probably find that a bit of a stretch… But I’d love for him to visit other planets,” Kingsley said.
Considering how wonderfully absurd Trevor’s life has become since first appearing in the MCU, seeing him stumble his way across the cosmos actually feels right in line with the character.
While Kingsley was dreaming big, co-creator and executive producer Andrew Guest offered a more guarded glimpse at what a second season might look like.
He hinted that there’s still plenty of territory left to explore, especially when it comes to the unique blend of superhero storytelling and entertainment industry satire that helped define the first season.
“More Simon and Trevor, more entertainment stories, and also some new things that we didn’t quite get to explore,” Guest said. “And I know I am being vague, but I don’t want to get in trouble with any of my bosses.”
Meanwhile, X Mayo, who plays Simon Williams’ sharp-tongued agent Janelle Jackson, brought up one of the strangest unresolved questions from the first season. Fans who watched the finale will remember that Josh Gad appeared as himself and ended up in a situation that left his fate hanging in the balance... literally.
“One thing that I’m excited is to see where is Josh Gad. Where is he? He’s somewhere just floating. So I’m excited about that and to see how Simon’s character, Wonder Man, progresses.”
That odd cliffhanger instantly became one of the show's most talked-about moments, and Mayo’s comments suggest the creative team hasn’t forgotten about it. Whether Gad ends up stranded in some bizarre corner of the universe or becomes part of an even stranger storyline remains to be seen.
Of course, not every idea for Season 2 revolves around cosmic detours and celebrity cameos. Co-creator, director, and executive producer Destin Daniel Cretton emphasized that the heart of the series still lies with its characters.
“There’s so much fun to be had in whatever crazy journey they’re going to go on next together. But I also think there’s a deep well, both in Simon Williams but also Trevor Slattery, to get to know them more and to understand their past.”
That approach helped make the first season stand out. Wonder Man delivered plenty of laughs through its commentary on Hollywood and franchise filmmaking, but it also gave audiences characters worth investing in.
The series found a balance between comedy, superhero action, and genuine emotional moments that kept it from feeling like just another MCU project.
If these early Season 2 ideas are any indication, the creative team is looking to expand the show's world without losing sight of what made it work in the first place.
