It was also reported that there is a video game-inspired episode that will reportedly see Jubilee and her boyfriend, Sunspot, trapped in a 16-bit video game by Mojo on her birthday. It’s said that some of this episode will be animated in the style of a 16-bit video game.

The official synopsis for the series reads: "Storm and Wolverine try to continue the X-Men. Magneto comes in and wants to step up for Charles Xavier. Sinister comes in to try to end the X-Men once and for all."

The series starts with Magneto and the X-Men after Professor X left for Shi'ar space in the original show's series finale. The series brings back the original voice cast including Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Chris Potter (Gambit), Catherine Disher (Jean Grey), Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler), and Christopher Britton (Minister Sinister).

The series has been described as "a spiritual and tonal continuation of the classic 1990s series that aired on Fox," and a "retro love letter to the original."

Beau DeMayo is the head writer and executive producer of X-Men '97. Jake Castorena is the supervising director and Charley Feldman is the supervising producer. X-Men '97 is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024. Season 2 is also currently in development.
