X-MEN Filmmaker Simon Kinberg Reacts to Hugh Jackman's Wolverine Coming Back for DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE
Writer, producer, and director Simon Kinberg had a long run with the X-Men franchise at 20th Century Fox before Disney acquired the studio. He actually worked on more than a half dozen Marvel projects for that franchise.
Now all of those characters are owned by Marvel Studios again and they are going to have a lot of fun with them in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie. We know that this film is going to explore some of these characters and do it in a way that Fox never could.
During a recent interview with CB, Kinberg shared his thoughts on Deadpool & Wolverine and reacted to Hugh Jackman returning to the role of Wolverine again for the film. He started off by joking:
"It's a good question because it's outside of actually being inside the process of making anything. The truth is, with the Marvel movies, if I answer anything, I'm just afraid there's gonna be a sniper's little red dot on my forehead and my children will be fatherless.”
There it is, more proof that Marvel Studios has employed snipers all over the world to kill people who reveal their secrets. He then added:
“So I'm just gonna say, I'm such a massive fan of everything that Hugh [Jackman]'s done with Wolverine. I think I made five movies he was in, in one form or another, as Wolverine and I'm very excited for the film. I know that for him, and for Ryan [Reynolds] and for Shawn [Levy], exploring some aspects that perhaps we haven't explored before, I would imagine is appealing."
Fans are incredibly excited about seeing Deadpool and Wolverine embark on an adventure together and I have no doubt that it’s going to be an absolute blast! This creative team is going to deliver an epically fun story!
In the film, “After facing some professional setbacks while going through a midlife crisis. Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman. But when his friends, family, and the whole world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement. He recruits an unwilling and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival, but ultimately, their legacy."
It’s also explained: "That f–king irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?"
The confirmed cast for the movie also includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic as Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen in a TVA Agent, and Leslie Uggams as Blind Al. They are joined by Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend Yukio. It was previously confirmed that Jennifer Garner will return as Elektra in the movie.
Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26th!
