You Can Actually Play the New STREET FIGHTER Trailer, So Get Ready to Fight

There’s a new Street Fighter trailer actually lets you jump into the action, attempt combos during the fights, and receive a score afterward that may or may not destroy your confidence.

A special interactive version of the trailer has been released through YouTube Playables, presenting the teaser inside a virtual arcade machine.

Before the footage begins, players are given a quick tutorial explaining the controls. From there, the trailer rolls and prompts appear that let you participate in the action.

It’s a pretty cool idea, particularly once Andrew Koji’s Ryu and Noah Centineo’s Ken start beating the hell out of each other. Instead of simply watching the fight, you’re trying to hit the correct inputs and pull off combos alongside them.

Once the trailer ends, you’re given a score based on your performance. Depending on how rusty those fighting game skills are, you may want to keep that number private.

Fans have been having fun with the interactive Street Fighter trailer as well. One fan wrote on X: "Capcom knows their audience. Like why watch the fight when you can actually try the combo yourself?"

Another player was already preparing for disaster: "Interactive movie trailers... we are officially living in the future lmao. I barely have the muscle memory for the normal games, I just know the combo challenge is gonna absolutely wreck me.”

The upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie follows Ryu and Ken as they enter the brutal World Warrior Tournament, only to become caught up in a deadly conspiracy.

Koji and Centineo lead a pretty wild ensemble that also includes Callina Liang, Joe Anoa'i, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, and Jason Momoa.

Director Kitao Sakurai has also explained that his goal was to avoid making another generic video game adaptation. Sakurai said:

"Everybody wanted to get behind creating a movie that had a very distinct tone and approach, that didn't feel like an off-the-shelf video-game movie. I was brought on to make something that didn't feel conventional, and they really let me do my thing."

Turning the trailer itself into a playable Street Fighter experience is a clever piece of marketing that a lot of fans will appreciate.

Now comes the important question: can you actually land the combos?

Street Fighter kicks its way into theaters on October 16.
