You Can Pre-Order LEGO SUPER MARIO Now
Last month, we learned about LEGO Super Mario and were promised some cool new ways to play with LEGO. Now, we know a little more and fans can even pre-order their very own sets. LEGO Super Mario is currently set to launch on August 1, with the Starter Set and two expansions.
LEGO Mario features LCD screens for his eyes, mouth, and belly. This helps you to see expressions and reactions based on movement and the color and types of bricks he interacts with. You’ll be able to get your own LEGO Mario figure in the Starter Set which will retail at $59.99. In the Starter Set, you’ll also get a Start Pipe, Goal Pipe, cloud platform, a Goomba figure, and Bowser Jr. figure.
Meanwhile, the Piranha Plant Slide expansion will be $29.99 and the Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set will be $99.99. These two expansions will add all new challenges for your LEGO Mario to overcome including a fight with King Koopa himself.
I think this looks like an awesome new way to play with LEGO and Mario. Plus, I’m shocked to hear that this has been in the works for 4 years! Takashi Tezuka of Nintendo released the following statement:
Super Mario has continued to appear, always in a form adapted to the current hardware of the time. I am thankful that in this project with the LEGO Group, Mario is jumping out of the digital world of game consoles and smart devices, and we are able to bring him into the world with a new, physical type of Mario play. It's very exciting to think of LEGO Mario becoming a real friend to children and to picture them playing in their very own Mario world that they imagined themselves.
