Zachary Levi Wants to Play Nathan Drake in The UNCHARTED Movie If Tom Holland Doesn't Work Out
What would you all think about Zachary Levi playing Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie? The actor recently shared that he would love to play the adventurous character. As you know, Tom Holland is currently attached to play a young version of the character, but Levi would gladly step into the role if things didn’t end up working out with Holland.
During a panel at CCXP Cologne in Germany over the weekend, Levi was asked which video game franchise he'd like to lead, if given the chance, and this is what he said:
"I played the first Uncharted when it first came out, I was like, ‘That dude’s the new Indiana Jones, I want to be the new Indiana Jones, I’m finding out where the movie rights are,’ and I called Naughty Dog, and I got on the phone with whoever, I was like, ‘Hi, you don’t know me, I’m an actor in Los Angeles, who has the film rights to your video game?’ And they were like, ‘Oh no, they’ve already been bought off, it was Avi Arad,’ and the whole deal. But 100 percent, that is such a fun franchise, I hope they make that, I still hope they make that. Apparently Tom Holland is attached to be Nathan Drake, a young version of Nathan Drake, he’s a very talented and upstanding gentleman, so I wish him nothing but luck. But if that doesn’t work out, I would love to be Nathan Drake.
He went on to add that Nathan Fillion would also love to take the role on as well:
"Also Nathan Fillion would love to be Nathan Drake, the face is kind of modeled after Nathan Fillion. It’s a great role. But also The Last of Us, I mean, they’re gonna turn that into a movie too, and that would be an amazing role."
You know, Levi wouldn’t be my first choice for Nathan Drake, but I do think he is a much better choice for the role than Tom Holland! While I enjoy Tom Holland’s work, he’s just not Nathan Drake material. I don’t even really buy him as a young Nathan Drake because he’ll never fully grow into that role and become the badass version of the character that we all know from the game.
The story for the film is said to take place when Nathan Drake and Sully, his surrogate father, were much younger. “It’s an origin story that evolves out of the game but is not from the game."
We don’t know who is playing Sully in the film yet, but the last we heard, Chris Hemsworth, Matthew McConaughey, Chris Pine, and Woody Harrelson were up for the role.
The latest draft of the screenplay comes from Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker. Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Land) is directing.
Would you rather see Levi in the role of Nathan Drake over Holland?
