Zachary Quinto is Still Hoping That He Will Return as Spock For STAR TREK 4
Not long after Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth dropped out of discussions for Star Trek 4, the film was said to have been shelved. As of right now, there is no movement on the film. Actor Zachary Quinto confirmed this in an interview with /Film, saying:
“I mean, it’s been a broad conversation that we’ve been having for a while in terms of what’s the future of the franchise. It’s in process so I don’t know exactly what to say other than there’s no plans for a movie happening at this moment.”
Even though the film is not moving forward at the moment, Quinto hopes that it will happen because he would love to reprise his role of Spock! He goes on to say:
“I would love to. I feel like it’s been an anchor of my creative life for the last over 10 years now so if I can go back to it, I’ll always be happy to. I love my Star Trek family so we’ll see how it goes.”
Pine and Hemsworth were supposed to reprise their roles as Captain James T. Kirk and his father George Kirk, respectively, and the story would center around the two coming together somehow and embarking on an adventure. Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Zachary Quinto (Spock), Simon Pegg (Scotty), and John Cho (Sulu) will obviously all be involved in the story as well.
I was actually looking forward to this movie and it’s a bummer that it’s in this situation. But, while this movie isn’t happening at the moment, Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek film is still in development, so that might actually happen first, which I’m totally fine with! I would love to see that Tarantino Star Trek film get made!
