Zendaya Teases SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY and Says She “Feels Very Good About It”
While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Zendaya didn’t spill any major secrets for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but she did give just enough to spark excitement.
When asked if she had seen anything from the upcoming Marvel sequel, she said, "I've seen a little something," and when pushed for more, she added, "A good amount of something. I feel very good about it."
Zendaya is set to return as Michelle Jones-Watson, aka MJ, though things are a bit complicated this time around. The story picks up four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Peter Parker made the painful decision to let the world forget who he is.
That includes MJ, who no longer remembers their relationship. Because of that, there’s been talk that Peter, played again by Tom Holland, may cross paths with a new love interest.
Of course, Zendaya isn’t giving anything away. When asked about villains in the film, she simply shut it down with, "I can't say that."
Marvel has been keeping details under wraps, but the official synopsis hints at a much bigger and more personal story this time around.
The synopsis reads: “Things are going well for our anonymous hero until an unusual trail of crimes pulls him into a web of mystery larger than he’s ever faced before… Spider-Man not only needs to be at the top of his physical and mental game, but he must also be prepared to face the repercussions of his past!"
That setup suggests this isn’t just another friendly neighborhood outing. Peter is about to deal with consequences that have been building for a while.
Zendaya also reflected a bit on her long history with Holland and the franchise, which goes all the way back to Spider-Man: Homecoming.
"It's such a huge part of our story, obviously, and we grew up making those films, and it's such a privilege to be able to do them," she said. "I know Tom [Holland] cares so much about the role and doing it justice."
It’s clear this series means a lot to both of them, and that connection has always been part of what makes these movies work so well.
The cast for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is also expanding in some interesting ways. Sadie Sink has joined in a mysterious role, while Jon Bernthal brings The Punisher into the mix. Returning favorites include Jacob Batalon as Ned and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 26, 2026.
