THE DARK TOWER TV Series Ends up at HBO!
Producer Brian Gazer recently revealed in an interview with MTV that HBO will be taking on the TV series plan for the epic production of The Dark Tower!
We're going to do ['The Dark Tower'] with HBO. We'll do the TV with HBO, and we'll do the movie with… to be determined. We'll do it right.
I couldn't be more excited by the fact that this series landed at HBO. I was hoping that it would land there because you know it will be done right, and get the awesome production value this story deserves.
Director Ron Howard and Gazer are currently on the hunt for a new movie studio to take on the project since Universal passed on it because they obviously couldn't handle the story's awesomeness. Who knows maybe they already found one and are working out the detials. Yesterday it was revealed that the filmmakers have cut down the budget of the film without hurting it's epic scope, at the same time they gave it a better ending.
The fact that the TV portion of this plan is going to HBO is amazing, that puts a lot of confidence behind the project. Now we just have to wait and see which studio ends up taking it on. Hopefully it happens soon so the film can actually move into production as soon as Howard is finished filming Rush.
