Michael Chabon officially set to write Jon Favreau's MAGIC KINGDOM

Movie Jon Favreau by

Earlier we reported that Michael Chabon had been talking with director Jon Favreau about writing the script for Magic Kingdom. Today, THR has confirmed that Chabon is officially set to pen the script for the epic family adventure set in ithe Disneyland theme park. The first draft of the script was written by Ron Moore, who was best known for his work on the Battlestar Galactica TV series, but since Favreau has come on board the vision has shifted.

According to THR, "Chabon is a big Disney aficionado and spent time at the Anaheim park with Favreau." He has a great relationship with the studio after working on the Snow White film titled The Order of the Seven and John Carter. In addition, he is writing the book for the Broadway-bound Dumbo musical. We recently reported that Chabon and his wife, author Ayelet Waldman, are developing Hobgoblin for HBO, which Darren Aronofsky will direct.

This could have some potential with Chabon on board, which has made me interested. I would much rather see a film about a theme park personally than about a board game. What are your thoughts on this news?
