Gabrielle Union Joins Jamie Foxx in SLEEPLESS NIGHT and Key & Peele in KEANU

Back in January, a remake of the French action thriller Sleepless Night was announced with Jamie Foxx in the lead role. He's playing a corrupt cop who has to retrieve a bag of cocaine in order to save his son's life, and Michelle Monaghan is playing an internal affairs officer trying to track him down. Now THR reports that actress Gabrielle Union has joined the cast as Foxx's ex-wife, "who figures into the Foxx's rescue." Grammar aside, I'm hoping her "figuring" means that she'll actually be able to kick some ass herself instead of hanging out on the sidelines.

Union is also in final negotiations to join Keanu, the first film that co-stars comedy duo Key & Peele as the lead characters. Peter Attencio, who directs all of the episodes of K&P's Comedy Central show, is directing, and the story follows "two friends who decide to act like gangster drug dealers in order to retrieve a stolen kitten." Union will play Key's character's wife, "who wishes her polite lawyer-of-a-husband would assert himself in and outside their marriage." I love Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do in their first feature film together. Union sounds like an excellent addition to the cast, so hopefully she'll be able to spotlight some of her comedic talents in that one.
