Horror Film CLOWN, From SPIDER-MAN Director, Finally Getting Released This Summer

We first wrote about the horror film Clown back in 2010, when it was only a fake trailer that got the attention of director Eli Roth. The Weinstein Company ended up acquiring the movie before it went into production a couple of years later, and then the full feature was eventually completed, only to sit on a shelf collecting dust.

Now Deadline reports that The Weinstein Company is finally going to give the movie a limited theatrical release starting on June 17, 2016. The film has looked creepy as hell ever since its first trailer debuted, but now there's likely going to be an added element of curiosity from fans: the director of the movie is Jon Watts, the same guy who's been hired to direct the next Spider-Man movie for Sony and Marvel. (He also directed Cop Car, an underrated indie thriller from last year.)

We've been talking about Clown for so long now that I just assumed it was released and I somehow missed it, but horror fans should mark their calendars for this summer to see if the movie is worth the wait.

Eli Roth presents this horror film about a man who puts on a clown costume and undergoes a terrifying transformation.
