I Hope This Awesome ALIEN: COVENANT Movie Connection Rumor is True

We recently got our first look at Katherine Waterston in the role of Daniels in Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant. Now we have some intriguing rumored information about this character that I hope is true. Before we get into that, let's run down some of the things we've learned over the past few months.

The film is said to include every version of xenomorph, Scott is shooting for a hard R rating, and some creepy set photos surfaced for the film, which you can see here. Then there's the synopsis, which reads:

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

We also know for a fact that this movie will directly connect to Scott's classic 1979 Alien film, and that's where this rumor comes in. The info involves one of the major ways that this new film will connect with the old one. If you don't want to know, you might not want to read ahead.

The following information originates from The Playlist:

Sources close to film and actress tell us the Waterston will be playing Ellen Ripley’s mother in “Alien: Covenant,” which is an amazing twist and true to Ridley Scott’s promise that the post-“Prometheus” prequels will eventually lead right up to the first “Alien” movie. It should be noted however that Waterston isn’t the lead of the movie, and it’s an ensemble piece like “Prometheus.”

How freakin' cool is that!? If true, then it looks like Daniels will be one of the survivors by the end. Maybe the character will take more of a leading role in the films as Scott plans on making a couple more sequels. There's no confirmation of this, but The Playlist has a pretty solid record when they post stuff like this. We'll just have to wait and see.

What do you all think of the possibility of Daniels being Ripley's mom?

The movie also stars Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Jussie Smolett (Empire), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color),Carmen Ejogo (Selma), Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills), and Billy Crudup (Watchmen).

Alien: Covenant is set to be released on August 4, 2017.
