LOKI Season 2 Reportedly to Include Squadron Supreme and Henry Cavill Rumored for Hyperion

A couple of new rumors have surfaced for Marvel’s Loki Season 2 that are pretty interesting. One rumor claims that Squadron Supreme will be in the series. The other is that Henry Cavill might be in talks to play Hyperion. These rumors originated at CineStealth, and it would be pretty cool if they turned out to be true.

Squadron Supreme is Marvel's version of DC Comics' Justice League of America. Some of the characters include Hyperion, Nighthawk, Doctor Spectrum, Arcanna, Power Princess, Blue Eagle, Whizzer, and more. It seems crazy to introduce some of these characters, but if they are really going to do it, the Loki series seems like the perfect place.

As for Cavill as Hyperion, I think that’s pretty far-fetched. Hyperion is Marvel's version of Superman and is one of the mightiest super-humans in the Marvel Multiverse. Hyperion is an Eternal with various powers such as super strength, super speed, flight, nigh-invulnerability, atomic vision, enhanced senses, and more.

I just don’t think Cavill would move to Marvel unless it was for a major role in a major film. Not a Marvel series. But, seeing members of the Squadron Supreme is believable. We’ll just have to wait and see!

Here’s the tweets that were sent out:

Tom Hiddleston is returning to play Loki, and he is also an executive producer on the project. Michael Waldron, who wrote and served as showrunner in Season 1, will also executive produce Season 2. Eric Martin is writing all six episodes for Season 2.

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will co-direct a majority of the episodes. The two filmmakers recently directed a couple of episodes of Marvel’s Moon Knight series.

While there are no details to share regarding the story for Season 2, Hiddleston previously talked about what he’d like to see from the series as it continues. One of the main things he’d like to continue to explore is Loki’s redemptive story arc:

“I understand the audience sees good in Loki — they want him to get past his internal and external obstacles. They want him to repair that relationship with his brother and step into the hero that he can be.

“He realizes, ‘Actually, I can choose my path and choose to do the right thing. Or I choose, at least, not to repeat the same old tricks that I repeated over and over in a cycle of trust and betrayal. It’s exciting to retain all the characteristics that makes Loki, Loki, and at the same time to play slightly different music within him.”

What do you think about these rumors?
